Why Books?
"In this project we read and discussed the book "Fahrenheit 451", made an art piece in response to the book, and wrote either a historical/literary analysis or a fiction piece based off of the book.
We exhibited our art pieces on March 11th at the Powerhouse Science Center."

Gamers Rage
The reason I am writing about gaming affecting us is because it has affected me. Paradoxically, video games have made me happier than I’ve ever been, but also have made me insanely violent as well, to the point that I don’t even touch a controller anymore. Overall, I have been negatively socialized to believe that I could be a warrior through video games.
When I was a young man I was given a gaming system. The first game I got was a game called duck hunter and in that game you took a gun and shot at ducks flying overhead. A couple years later we got an xbox 360. By then I was attached to gaming. It was the first if not the only thing I would do when I got home. Sometimes I didn't even have dinner because I would get so caught up in this virtual world, and I think the reason most players play videogames is to escape their actual lives and make new personas for themselves and make them feel like a god on the battlefield based on their skill. I guess that's what drew me to gaming in the first place, because I could be something that I never thought I could be in the real world, and there was always the one man that I idolized in the gaming world the strongest the fastest the luckiest John 117 or The master chief. I could not stop thinking about how much I wanted to be him being praised by everyone having the chance and taking it to save the world 3 times. It was because of his skill and his power that I wanted to be him. So I tried to be a soldier but sadly I was 8 so that was pretty impossible. In a way I was socialized by the game that I love so much to try to be something i'm not.
Tell me, if you’re a parent and your child loves playing video games have you ever asked yourself why do they love that machine so much? If not I think you should but it brings them into a community that accepts them and that they can have fun with or rage with, either way it brings them together and rarely tears them apart. In my opinion Gaming exists as a release not training for soldiers or for murderers of course there is always going to be those people in the world. Violent Gaming may help them to an extent but in my opinion it’s not the games fault it’s the gamer’s fault if you really believe gunning down hundreds of people because of a game then you’re really stupid and should be put in a mental institution or a prison long before the problem arises. As many as 97% of US kids age 12-17 play video games, contributing to the $21.53 billion domestic video game industry. More than half of the 50 top-selling video games contain violence.
Violent video games have been blamed for school shootings, increases in bullying, and violence towards women. Critics argue that these games desensitize players to violence, reward players for simulating violence, and teach children that violence is an acceptable way to resolve conflicts. Video game advocates contend that a majority of the research on the topic is deeply flawed and that no causal relationship has been found between video games and social violence. They argue that violent video games may provide a safe outlet for aggressive and angry feelings and may reduce crime.

Fahrenheit 451 Short Story
Chapter #1: The city that burnt to the ground
Motif: A motif is a distinctive feature or dormant idea in a book or piece of art
Symbolism:The use of symbols to represent ideas or qualities
Connotation: Connotation is the idea or feeling that a word gives the reader a deeper meaning.
Both the firemen standing on the street looked at Montag’s house. The streets were empty, there was no sound for miles it was like a canyon of houses shrouded in silencing darkness. The streets had a blissful feel to it like if nothing was around to ruin the moment; they both felt empty inside like a trash can that just had a new bag put in, as they looked at his neon blue house, it was extravagant, breathtaking, beautiful. “um beatty why are we at my house?” Montag said breaking the silence beatty looked at him, Montag knew that he totally just ruined the moment. Montag gulped “Montag” Beatty said with cold looking eyes “Burn down your house NOW!” Without hesitation Montag immediately whipped out a 357 Vulcan minigun and starts spraying the lead bullets into his house with his wife still inside, ripping it piece by piece. They looked at him while he destroyed the house. His face was smiling and crying at the same time, it was going round and round like a bee flying in his mind….drool plopped out of his mouth and his eyes went blank. Pieces of the house came down like boulders on top of the people in the streets. He shifted the smoking metal barrels towards beatty and the police
“Bring it” Montag said with fire in his eyes with same look a lion has when it’s about to pounce its prey. Beatty and the police officer’s pulled out gravity hammers--weapons that could manipulate gravity with a single swing, crushing anything in their path, Montag let the minigun go crazy blowing chunks out of the cars and the police officers. Beatty was hiding behind one of the cars; he flipped over the car and hit Montag in the legs making Montag crumble like a mountain but on Beatty’s way back to his car Montag pulled a pistol on him and shot him a couple times blood spewed out of Beatty’s leg, angered at the thought of being shot by Montag, Beatty pulled out a rocket launcher from the back of his car and shot at Montag blowing him a hundred millimeters down the street, “WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU!!!” Montag looked at Beatty and smiled all the other officers were dead it was just the two of them; Montag shifted the barrels knowing he was almost on empty and shot Beatty a couple more times. Beatty dying of blood loss after being shot six times pulled out his phone and called the military. “Rebel soldier fighting off police with a minigun in the middle of the street, sending in the elites ETA 3 min” The elite soldiers dropped out of heavily armored trucks like bees swarming out of the hive; they had fierce looks on their faces holding M16’s and M1911’s. The clanking of the casings hitting the ground excited montag; so much adrenaline was pumping through his veins that he didn't even notice the bullets going through him. He fought with all he had, he was out of breath and dying slowly by the end he was riddled with bullet holes; Montag making a desperate escape limped over to the river and jumping in while pulling his deadswitch on some planted explosives leveling the hole block. While falling into the river pieces of building’s came crashing down behind him like a crumbling giant smashing bones and body parts, limbs of fallen officers fell into the water the river was ferocious smashing him against walls and the ground while pushing him all the way down to Faber’s small rotten little box house; Faber grabs Montag out of the water and gives him instructions of how to get to the countryside and contact some hippies. “And i'll meet up with you to.”,Faber said Montag nodded his head and got tossed back into the river putting a bullet in faber's leg while the sound of explosions echoed in the distance “WHY!!!!” Faber screamed as blood gushed out of his leg, but his voice faded as he hit the water and flew down the stream. Later Montag met the hippies they were dressed in robes and rags they all looked dead or mechanical like little old man tinker toys they also kinda looked like gangsters, the hippies were led by a hippie named Granger, Granger talks to montag and tells him “Look we are a small society of people who have memorized books over the ages that will help rebuild society” Montag with a blank face obviously didn’t care at all so he shot granger in the foot once, he yelled at the top of his lungs “You dumba**” “Shhh they'll hear us that was just a test” said Montag with a smile on his face. Later they took him back to their ghostly city full of diseased old souls. As he walked through the street he felt like he was going to be sacrificed but they took him into the best looking house in the entire city and started teaching him literature like things but he was so bored that he kept assassinating all the other citizens in a fit of rage. But all of the sudden bombers holding nukes, flew over the big city that montag had just left. The knowledgeable ones all immediately hid in little bunkers or holes they created other than Montag who was not only mentally disabled but determined to stay and fight “Time to show you what I can really do.” The bombers made another pass and dropped nuclear bombs on the big city the destruction was beautiful to Montag all of the sudden he felt adrenaline pumping through his veins his eyes widened as the blast got closer. Montag used his super jump to fly into the air and dodge the blast; he landed on one of the planes ripping it apart, quickly jumping from one to another destroying them in the process. He was having fun but suddenly out of the nuclear filled sky a missile smashed into him and he plummeted back to the ground. Luckily he landed on one of the hiding civilians breaking all his bones and killing him instantly. The shock wave went right over them and blew away the cover. All but one survived, the next morning Granger (AKA) Main hippie taught Montag about the legendary phoenix “The phoenix is a east from ancient mythical times that has a long cycle of rebirth, just like mankind” Montag gets bored and stands up to shoot OG hippie #1 with a railgun but Granger with a terrified look in his eyes asks him “Please sir don't kill anymore people….please” then gets shot in the legs seven times completely removing them, Montag steals Grangers food leaving him to starve and after they patch Granger up they chase him to the city, shooting at him with mini nukes all the way.
