Rube Gold Berg Reflection
This project amazingly displays project based learning and I feel like it really illustrates how it is done. For this project basically you had to make a team and build something called a Rube Gold Berg, in this project you are supposed to have a minimum of 12 steps and its supposed to be a chain link of steps. One step after another and it has to have a main goal like for example ours turned on some lights by applying force to a ruler that hit a switch thus turning on the lights.
1st: Car rolls down hill hitting a lever
2nd: Lever hits marble and goes along path
3rd: Marble rolls down funnel and down path and hits dominoes
4th: Dominoes tumble down on each other and hit a mouse trap
5th: Mouse trap activates pulling string that is attached to a wheel
6th: wheel goes down and hits another wheel
7th: The second wheel goes down some rulers and hits some dominoes
8th: The dominoes go down and hit another mouse trap
9th: Mouse trap pulls some string
10th: The string is attached to a little piece of wood that gets pulled out
11th: Releasing a marble
12: The marble moves down the pipe and hits a ruler
13th: The ruler hits a small switch turning on the lights

First Project: Violence in the games
Violence in the Games
Abstract- Our question is, Does exposure to violent gaming material alter the everyday activities and behavior of a non violent test subject. Our experiment is to test and see if this rumor is actually true.
Introduction- The reason that we are doing answering this question is because everyone in our group are gamers and we would like to know the truth behind this rumor. Everyday, we gamers are targeted by saying that playing video games leads to violent and aggressive behavior, this is where we got our inspiration to do this question. Choosing non violent test subjects is key in our investigation because you simply cannot see if a change in aggressive behavior in an aggressive person. If you cannot see the change in behavior, then there is no point in doing the experiment. By soothing people before allowing them to game, it calmed their nerves almost to the point of a relaxation high so that all of them will be equally relaxed in order to not taint the results.
Question/Hypothesis-Our hypothesis was, If a person plays a violent video games then they will not become any more violent than they were when they first started the experiment. In other words, does playing video games make people more violent.
Methods and materials-Our methods consisted of choosing test subjects who we concluded to be non violent. After we finished figuring out who to test, we began testing them by allowing them to relax and then we let them play 3 minutes of “violent video games.” The materials that we used was Mortal Kombat and an Xbox as our video game and console. After playing the game, we monitored their behavior and actions to see if they became any more aggressive or began acting differently and then recorded the results.
Results-Our results concluded that everyone who we tested did not have a change in behavior or a change in their normal activities. The trend in our data was that the test subject was not altered at all by the gaming material. This shows that our hypothesis was correct in assuming that gaming material would not alter their behavior or mood of a passive person.
Discussion-In our hypothesis we stated that we thought that if a person plays a violent video games then they won’t be any more aggressive than before they played the video games. Our project confirmed our hypothesis was true. that playing violent video games won’t make people more violent. Some mistakes we made were that we lost the data that we had on all our subjects. This project would be better if we didn't have to write in our log. If you had the persons group members grade then based on their participation.
